Stockton Yacht Club Opening Day on the Delta

  • Photos of the Stockton Yacht Club Opening Day Parade on the Stockton waterfront

The month of April is the traditional beginning of the boating season, and many yacht clubs in the California Delta stage opening day boat parades. Boats are usually decorated for the parades, using a different theme each year. These photos are of the 2010 Stockton Yacht Club Opening Day on the Delta parade, which had the theme of "Bonnie & Clyde". The parade started at Light 39 in the Stockton Deepwater Channel and turned around in McLeod Lake at the Stockton waterfront. It was a beautiful, sunny day with only the lightest breeze. The Asparagus Festival was also in full swing, so there were plenty of people there to enjoy the decorated boats as they passed by.

The Stockton Yacht Club was formed in 1930, and is located just off the Stockton Deepwater Channel on the Calaveras River. They have a 5000 sq. ft. clubhouse, and guest docks with electrical and water hookups. Their website is stocktonyachtclub.org .
