Courtland Pear Fair

  • Photos of Courtland Pear Fair

Courtland held its 37th annual Pear Fair on July 26th, 2009. The day began early with a Fun Run at 8am. We arrived around 11am, missing the run (oh, darn!), but well in time for the 1pm parade. Admission to the Pear Fair was free, and there was a $10 fee for parking. Parking was plentiful and well organized. Leaving was a bit of an adventure as you wind out of town the back way, through fields and orchards, finally winding up back on Hwy 160 a bit north of Courtland. The day was hot, but there was plenty of shade from the beautiful trees that grace Courtland. There was a large tent set up with plenty of hay bales upon which to sit and eat the yummy fair food and enjoy the great music provided by the Jay Rollerz Band, the Take 2 Party Band and the Mariachi Los Gallos. The classic car show was a real treat as well. There were some beautiful crafts available to purchase in the vendor area, and of course there were the wonderful treats and beverages made with Courtland's famous pears.
