Most recreational boats that have a toilet are equipped with a Type III Marine Sanitation Device (MSD). These devices have a holding tank in which the waste accumulates until it can be pumped out at a marine pumpout station. It is a great idea to know where these stations are located in the areas where you typically boat to avoid a “potty’s full” situation. You can also use a mobile service if you would prefer not to have to take your boat to a pumpout location.
